白い森/white forest

これら作品は、ドイツの黒い森に行った時の体験から制作されたシリーズです。「白い森」というタイトルは、黒い森で見つけた白化したシダの葉に由来します。白化は太陽光不足による植物の病気の一つです。しかし、太陽光が足りないという事実とは反対に、白いシダの葉は黒い森の中でスポットライトに照らされるように輝いて見えました。そして、その葉の形は、黒い森を遠くから見た姿によく似ていました。本作は、そのミクロな世界の白い森にいるであろう生き物を想像しながら描いたシリーズです。

This series arose from my experiences in the Black Forest in Germany. The title “White Forest” comes from the bleached fern leaves I found there. This whitening is a disease caused by a lack of sunlight. But paradoxically, the bright fern leaves seemed to be illuminated in the dark forest. Their shape reminded me of the image of the Black Forest from afar.

This series imagines what kinds of creatures could exist in this microscopic “white forest.”
